Breaking: Group appeals SF alcohol ruling

Last week the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission ruled in favor of Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor, stating they were to be granted a license to sell alcohol on park property in designated areas as many other theme parks across the U.S. have, barring a call for retrial from the area's residents.
Today, Texas Sober Inc., a Fort Worth activist group, filed a formal request for a rehearing. The group stated their opinion that the initial hearing not conducted in a "full or fair manner," says MSNBC's Lita Beck.
The initial public hearing was held on Oct. 14, 2008 and was open to anyone who cared to attend. In Texas Sober Inc.'s complaint, the group claims that the following hearings "disenfranchised" the public due to their closed nature. Only two people who were in opposition to the license were allowed to attend the hearings.
The group's request asks that any rehearing should be scheduled at a convenient time and date that will allow for "maximum input from the public," reports MSNBC.
The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission's head administrator has 45 days from the Feb. 25 ruling to determine whether or not a rehearing will be granted.
