Broken cable of SFKK ride inspected

The broken cable of the Superman Tower of Power ride at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, the same ride that cut off the feet of Kaitlyn Lasitter on June 21, was inspected by the girl's father, Randy, on July 20. It appeared that a shoelace from Kaitlyn's shoes was knotted into a cable
on the ride, said the family's attorney. Both Randy and his attorney were invited, along with several others, by state officials. Kaitlyn's family is suing SFKK, claiming the park failed to maintain the equipment and ensure riders' safety. The manufacturer of the faulty cable is still in doubt, which explains why no manufacturer has yet been named in the suit. "The manufacturer in question has not confirmed that it is their cable," said Bill Clary, a spokesman for the Kentucky Agriculture Department. Meanwhile, Kaitlyn has had one foot reattached at Vanderbilt University Medical Center — the other could not be saved due to the extent of the injury.
