Busch Entertainment revenue falls in Q2

It seems that no amusement park is safe from the effects of the economic recession. Busch Entertainment Corp., the management arm of such parks as Busch Gardens and SeaWorld, saw revenues continue to decline in the second quarter of 2009. Revenues dropped 4.2 percent from the same time last year. The parks brought in $399 million in revenue between April and June, compared to $416 million from Q2 2008.
This dip, however, pales in comparison to the entertainment group's first quarter drop of 18.3 below Q1 numbers in 2008. Poor Q1 and not-nearly-as-bad-as-expected Q2 revenues could be blamed on the shifting of the Easter travel period. The holiday this year shuffled from the first quarter to the second, slightly boosting second quarter numbers. [Orlando Sentinel]
