Coaster-walkers keep wooden coasters running
By Charles Starrett | Filed under News on Aug 20, 2007

The Washington Post has posted an interesting piece about the role of roller coaster walkers and the integral part they play in keeping the country's wooden coasters up and running. For those unfamiliar, coaster walkers are caretakers — often officially called "carpenters" — that literally walk the track of a wooden roller coaster, checking every nut, bolt, and piece of railing, ensuring that the coaster is ready for the day's riders. "Ain't nothing like getting out there and working with your own hands," said Rob Lattin, coaster walker at Six Flags America. "It's pride."
