Disney backs Florida high-speed rail system
By Ryan McClung | Filed under News on Oct 2, 2009

Walt Disney World today announced its support for central Florida's bid for $2.5 billion in federal funds to erect a high-speed rail system between Orlando and Tampa. Disney officials have stated they support a stop at the Orange County Convention Center--just north of Disney parks--and will provide up to 50 acres of the company's land gratis. However, there is already heated competition for the $8 billion set aside by the Obama administration for high-speed transit systems and time will tell how much of that is allocated for this venture.
