Disney monorail reopened with focus on safety

Walt Disney Word has reopened the monorail system that saw its first collision in the rail's almost 38-year history.
Disney, however, is not taking the reopening lightly. Steps have been taken to monitor track switches. Multiple employees must now verify that the switch between connecting track beams has been completed before trains are allowed to continue.
OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) "released" the monorail system to the resort about 36 hours after the accident occurred. OSHA said the organization had two investigators on the scene during this period.
"We have completed a thorough safety inspection and system checks to verify that it is safe to operate the monorail for our guests and cast," Disney representatives told The Orlando Sentinel. "We've added additional verifications of these track switch positions, supplemented our safety procedures and protocols for these operations, and communicated these changes to our Transportation partners."
