Lifthill doesn't usually report on the happenings of Disney Cruise Line, but this tid-bit warrants notice: Disney is set to install a high-speed flume ride on its newest ship, the Disney Dream. Dubbed the "Aqua Duck," it will be the first of its kind. Measuring 765 feet in length, the flume will wind around the top deck and swing around the side of ship. Just as riders (sliders?) catch a glimpse of the ocean 150 feet below, the flume dives into the ship itself and finally emerges outside to 335-foot-long "river rapids." Says Joe Lanzisero, senior creative VP at Walt Disney Imagineering, "Slides are pretty common on ships now, so we wanted to take it to the next level." If Disney can deliver on the Dream, they may do just that.
