Walt Disney World has announced plans to build a 15,000-square-foot, on-site "Health and Wellness Center" for resort employees and their dependents. The center will provide primary care medical services as well pharmacy, lab and basic radiology to more than 40,000 Disney employees and family members who participate in the company's health insurance plans. Becky Cherney, president of the Florida Health Care Coalition, said the on-site clinic would set an example "of how employers can help address Florida's health-care challenges." Construction on the clinic, which will be located in a backstage area near Epcot, has not yet begun; Disney officials are aiming for a late 2008/early 2009 opening.
