Al Lutz's most recent MiceAge column provides insight into a little-known problem: according to the article, a surprising number of Disneyland guests are bringing the ashes of cremated loved ones to the park, in order to spread them around inside rides like the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and It's a Small World. The earliest known incident took place in the '90's inside the Mansion, and each incident normally requires the involvement of the Anaheim Police, as well as the custodial team. In response to the growing trend, Disneyland's custodial department has purchased vacuums with specially-designed HEPA filters to make sure that all the remains are removed.
