Disneyland Hotel to undergo phased renovation

Disney is set to begin work on the long-overdue renovation of the Disneyland Hotel this summer. Originally constructed in 1955, the "historic" (Disney's word, not ours) hotel has definitely looked its age these past several years.
The renovation will include a modernization of the interior and exterior of the hotel, as well as much needed maintenance of the electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning units in the building. Each room will see the addition of a flat-panel television, wireless Internet connectivity and a Sleeping Beauty Castle headboard with a fiber-optic firework display. The sliding-glass doors on the exterior of the room will be replaced with large, blue-tinted windows.

The overhaul will begin in August and will be done one vertical half tower at a time. Construction will begin with the Dreams tower – expected to be completed by June 2010 – and continue with the Magic and Wonder towers. However, it seems the entire hotel, including all three towers, will remain operational for the duration of the construction.
