Dolphin dies in Discovery Cove accident

Sharky, a 30-year-old female dolphin died at SeaWorld Orlando's Discovery Cove park after colliding with another dolphin during an aerial stunt. Park spokesperson Becca Bides said the dolphin was performing a jump for park visitors when she struck the other animal and died. Visitors who witnessed the dolphin's death were more than 50 feet away at the time of the accident. Although this is the first time a fatal collision has occurred a the park, Bides said, "Even though it's rare, we're taking this very seriously," adding that park officials will examine training protocols and the dolphins' aerial routines.
