A promotion offering free admission to Six Flags Over Georgia caused massive traffic problems on neighboring Interstate 20 and surrounding roads. The "Ditch Work" promotion being run by the park offered free admission

to the park between 6:00 and 9:00 am — cars began arriving at the park as early as 3:30 to line up. The problem worsened when drivers stuck in traffic began letting passengers out to walk along the roads to the park, where they were told the free admission offer was limited to people in vehicles, leaving the walkers to wander near the Interstate, looking for their rides. So many were turned away, apparently, that Zoo Atlanta also experienced a busy day, which it attributed to people that were turned away by the park, which ended the promotion at 5:55 am.
