Hong Kong Disneyland turns away visitors

Hong Kong Disneyland today experienced a sellout beause of the Lunar New Year, and more than a hundred people were turned away at the gates of the park. The crowd became angry, with some attempting to force their way into the park. The source of the problem is said to be a new flexible ticketing plan that doesn’t guarantee the ticket holder entrance to the park on any given day — just over a span of six months. The gates were eventually re-opened during the afternoon, possibly to remove the possibility of enraged guests later accosting the guy in the Mickey suit.
“I’d like to extend our apologies to those who could not enter the park. We thank them for their warm support,” said Betty Law, a spokeswoman for Hong Kong Disneyland, advising those who were turned away to come back another day. “We’ve opened only four months and we’re still learning from our experience.”
