Locals grab for more with Shanghai Disneyland

Now that plans for Shanghai Disneyland have been finalized between Walt Disney Co., the Shanghai government, and Chinese government, all that's left is to acquire the land and begin construction. Not so fast. Residents of the land chosen for Shanghai Disneyland's construction have hastily thrown up rows of white sheds along the main roadway. Just down the road a new pavilion and faux mountain have been constructed, and bricks have been lain to partition the land. Why would the local residents do this? The villagers stated that they expect to receive as much as ten times the original compensation now that they have "built" on the land. Time will tell by how much the price of construction will inflate as a result of this new development.
