Six Flags Magic Mountain has taken delivery of two of the three new coaster trains for the park's X coaster, which will be re-named X2 following the upgrade. The trains are lighter and more aerodynamic than the originals, which were blamed for the coaster's persistent downtime issues. The LA Times reports that testing on the trains can't begin until work crews complete a repainting of the coaster, replacing the original color scheme of pink and yellow with a more "ominous" red and charcoal grey. The X coaster, opened in 2002, was the world's first to feature 360 degree-rotating seats; the $10 million upgrade project is expected to be completed in time for a Memorial Day weekend debut.
