A 44-year-old man has died following a ride on Expedition Everest: Legend of the Forbidden Mountain at Disney's Animal Kingdom park at the Walt Disney World resort. Jeffrey Reed of Navarre was found unconscious and unresponsive when the ride returned to the unload area, where another park guest — a registered nurse — and a Disney employee began CPR on the man, according to Reedy Creek Assistant Fire Chief Bo Jones. The man had no pulse when Reedy Creek paramedics arrived, Jones said, adding that there was no apparent trauma and "no obvious signs of any cause." The paramedics transported Reed to Celebration Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Walt Disney World officials said that the ride had been inspected this morning and was functioning properly, although they have closed the ride while company officials reconfirm the ride's status. A Disney spokeswoman said the company has offered the man's family "our deepest sympathies" and offered assistance.
