Disney plans green town in Shanghai
By Blaine David Gilliam | Filed under News on May 9, 2011

Disney is planning to build a low-carbon town near its new Shanghai Disneyland theme park that will be similar to the town of Celebration, located near the Walt Disney Resort in Florida. The town will house around 100,000 people and is based on the Zero Carbon System.
This system powers the town with solar, wind, and biomass energies and will try to achieve 3 tons of carbon emissions per person a day rather than the current 8 tons per person. The project is projected to cost $1.32 billion dollars and will be completed by 2016.
