New 'Paradise Pier' sign at California Adventure

The latest sign of Disney's headway on the "re-Imagineering" of the Paradise Pier area of Disney's California Adventure is just that: a new, giant sign.

The new sign hangs from the "California Screamin'" roller coaster illuminating red letters spelling "Paradise Pier." The signage is designed in what Disney is calling "Disney vintage" and is meant to conjure images of the beachfront amusement park signs of the 1920s and '30s; the era Walt Disney first began producing animated cartoons.

The sign was erected overnight between Thursday and Friday of last week.

Disney continues the "re-Imagineering" of the rest of the area and will complete "Mickey's Fun Wheel" and the Games of the Boardwalk throughout Spring and should have the area reopened later this year.

For the purpose of comparison, see the signage that was replaced below.
