A year after Six Flags Marine World became Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, the park is reporting increased attendance numbers for its first year of operations under its new name. "Our policy is to not release attendance numbers, but attendance was up significantly over last year," SKDL spokeswoman Nancy Chan said. Last Thursday marked the one-year anniversary of the name change and overhaul that came to the park. Chan said that along with the name change came a renewed focus on making the park a clean, safe family environment, a focus that has been helped along by stricter cleanliness and conduct policies, as well as a reorganization of the park into three themed areas. "Dividing the park into themed areas - land, sea and sky - helped people orient themselves better to how the park is laid out," she said.
