Riptide Bay at Six Flags Great America opens

Six Flags Great America has just opened Riptide Bay, a huge 4-acre water park expansion located in Hurricane Harbor. Six Flags Great America is located in Chicago's metropolitan area. Some of the new additions include four new slides that the floor drops out of and you free fall for five stories before entering Dive Bomber's loop or Mega Wedgie's 80 degree plunge. There's the new Monsoon lagoon, an activity pool with waterfalls that spans 14,000 square feet. Riptide Bay also is the only place to surf on Lake Michigan.
Six Flags Great America Park President Hank Salemi, ""Riptide Bay is the perfect addition to our park's extensive collection of thrills. We expanded the water park due to popular demand, and are excited to provide guests of all ages with a variety of unique and thrilling slides and attractions, that can only be found at Six Flags Great America."
Riptide Bay opens in Six Flags Great America's 35th year and is free with a season pass or park admission.
