In an attempt to further reduce wait times for popular rides, Six Flags Magic Mountain will introduce a computerized ride reservation system to the park. The system, developed by British company Lo-Q, will allow park guests to reserve their place in line without the need to physically wait in line. The reservation time is determined by the time the reservation is made.
The pager-like device - dubbed "Q-Bot" - will track guests' general location in the park and will offer discounts and advertisements based on retail stores and restaurants in proximity to the user, in addition to its primary task of providing wait-time updates. The Q-bot straps to a user's belt loop and will be scanned by park officials at ride entrances. The device can be used by up to six visitors at a time.
This service, however, will come at a price. Those looking to take advantage of this new system will rent the Q-Bot on a per-person basis and is expected to be comparable to the current $20 charge for four Flash Pass paper tickets. A premium "gold" Q-Bot will cost guests an undisclosed amount more, but will cut wait times by 20%.
Magic Mountain Q-Bot rides will include:
• Roaring Rapids
• Revolution
• Viper
• Colossus
• Scream
• Goliath
• Jet Stream
• Batman the Ride
• Log Jammer
• Tatsu
• Goldrusher
• Tidal Wave
• Riddler’s Revenge
See the LA Times article for further detail.
