Son of Beast closed following rider complaint

Kings Island has shut down its Son of Beast wooden roller coaster following a rider complaint. WKRC in Cincinnati reports that a woman claims she suffered a head injury on the ride during a visit to the park on May 31, and subsequently contacted Kings Island officials on June 16. The park then contacted the Ohio State Department of Agriculture, which oversees amusement park ride safety, to inform them of the incident; the park then agreed to shut down the ride while the state investigates. Son of Beast has a reputation as a rough-riding coaster, and in 2006 more than a dozen people were hurt in an incident involving broken timbers on the ride. [via TPI]
