Son of Beast rider had burst blood vessel

The 39-year-old woman whose injury report led Kings Island to shut down its Son of Beast coaster suffered a burst blood vessel in her brain following her ride. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the incident report from the Amusement Ride Safety Division of the Ohio Department of Agriculture states that the woman's injury led her to be admitted to a hospital's Intensive Care Unit. Details such as the woman's name, past medical history, and name of the hospital at which she received care are not being released until the ODA completes its investigation of the incident. While rider error could be at cause, ODA spokeswoman Kaleigh Frazier admitted, the agency does have the power to shut down Son of Beast until it's fixed should the ride be found at fault.

"Then we would re-inspect the ride, and if everything was alright, the ride could be reopened," Frazier said. Kings Island voluntarily shut down the ride and reported the injuries to the Amusement Park Safety Division when it was informed of the incident; the ride remains closed as the investigation continues.
