Unconfirmed: Disney wins Shanghai approval
By Ryan McClung | Filed under News on Apr 1, 2009

The Shanghai-based Wen Hui Bao paper (via China Knowledge Online) reports that Walt Disney Co. has secured approval from China's regulatory bodies to begin work on the long delayed Shanghai Disney Park. Citing "sources familiar with the matter," Wen Hui Bao said a press conference would be held in Geneva in the near future to announce the approval and provide some details.
This news comes on the heels of reports that Disney-Hong Kong talks over the expansion of Hong Kong Disneyland have stalled in the wake of Walt Disney Co.'s mounting debt to the Hong Kong government and global financial strains.
Lifthill will report further on this matter as details are made available.
