Universal Orlando has announced that it is ending its Universal Express service, which, must like Disney's FastPass, allowed visitors to skip an occasional long line. The park will instead switch exclusively to its pre-existing Express Plus service, which allows visitors

to pay extra money for the privilege of cutting lines all day. The Universal Express had been in service in one form or another on various rides throughout the resort since 1999, while the Express Plus service was first offered in 2003. It has long been speculated that Universal Express and similar services were created in order to keep customers out of line, thus allowing them more time to generate revenue for the park by purchasing snacks, food, and merchandise.
