WDW Space Mountain ride to be rebuilt?
Filed under News on Dec 4, 2007

Rumors surrounding the upcoming refurbishment of Space Mountain (dubbed Space Mountain: Mission 2) at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World suggest that Disney may be planning to gut the inside of the structure, and rebuild the ride from scratch. This process would be similar to what the company did to Disneyland's Space Mountain as part of the park's 50th anniversary rehab. Strangely, the new rumors state that a possible plan to speed-up the refurb is to remove the top of the mountain, allowing for easier, faster removal of the ride inside. If the top of the structure is not removed, all the pieces of the ride will have to be removed through a 22-foot tall back door.
