A fast paced indoor roller coaster ride, Space Mountain was opened at the Magic Kingdom in 1975. The ride, placed in the park's Tomorrowland area, sits inside a 183 foot white metal mountain, in which the steel coaster resides. The spatial-effects include lighting which sprinkles the inside of the building with galaxies of stars, darting meteors and glowing space vehicles. The ride also features two separate tracks, although this may change when the ride goes down for an extensive rehab in 2008.

Lifthill comments: A classic Disney attraction, Space Mountain in Walt Disney World is based on the Disneyland original. Unfortunately the Florida version of the attraction has yet to receive the excellent rehab that the DL version got last summer. Still, it is a fun romp with enough thrills to excite grown-ups but not too intense for anyone tall enough to ride. A must-ride for me on every visit to the Magic Kingdom.
