A classic out-and-back wooden coaster, The Racer is a twin-track coaster where one side "races" against the other down the first hill and back to the station. When one track began backwards operation in 1982, it became the first backwards facing coaster in the world.

Lifthill comments: The Racer is a fun, old-style coaster. When the ride is being run correctly, the racing aspect of the ride becomes quite fun — but not as fun as being in the first — well, actually the last seat — as you get the most pull down the hills and also get to watch the track behind the train, instead of in front.
